Are communities the source of their own challenges?

The answer is certainly debatable. Must communities be engaged in their own challenges in order to meet and transcend them? A few say no, and a great many say yes, and the overall answer will decide how strong our communities will be, and how robust our democracy will be, at best.

This presentation will be a whirlwind of more answers to questions such as this than you may ever considered. From the grand cultural experiment going on in Portland, we will hear about the momentum of the City Repair Project and it's work to successfully activate more than 300 communities in the process of retrofitting their urban landscapes with community gathering places, organizational structures, and a vast spectrum of community infrastructure projects that will surely dazzle, and exceed your wildest imagination to date.

This dinner is included in your registration at the 2013 ICA Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Conference. For information about the conference please visit www.cpted.net/events
