The International CPTED Association has a large base amongst architects and other designers of the physical environment. This may be attributed to the emphasis on the  ‘design of the environment‘ as the primary focus of crime prevention under CPTED.

While CPTED principles have distinct overlaps with the common architectural theories and approaches, there are different viewpoints regarding the practicability of the principles across ideologies, practices and regions. The diversity of the CPTED following, the diversity of its principles and diversity of applications merit discussion and a platform to share, learn and embrace.

The ICA Webinar committee has carefully curated a global panel from east to west of the globe with a special effort to include the communities that are new to CPTED and that CPTED is new to. They bring together architects who are well trenched in professional practice and practice of CPTED to share how the principles translate and manifest in the real world.

Being a global event, with relevance to all regions, we understand that the time slot may not be convenient for all. Hence we strongly recommend that you register to be able to receive the recording and also share any specific queries you have. Even if you are not connected to ask the question, we will try to include your question in the broadcast for the benefit of all.

Topics will include:

  • The role of the architect in crime prevention
  • Common challenges faced by architects in the practice and advocacy of CPTED principles
  • The merits of practicing CPTED in architecture
  • Budgetary implications, benefits or otherwise of embedding CPTED in architectural design
  • The role of CPTED in global sustainability
